Freezing Fresh Blueberries:
- Wash and completely dry blueberries.
- Place a sheet of wax paper on a cookie sheet.
- Add a single layer of blueberries to the cookie sheet. Fill the cookie sheet but make sure the blueberries are not touching.
- Place the cookie sheet in the freezer for 3-4 hours or until blueberries are hard.
- Remove blueberries from the cookie sheet and place in a Ziploc Bag.
- Label and store in the freezer.
If you use these steps to freeze fruit (blueberries, strawberries, bananas etc.), each piece will be frozen individually and you will not end up with a big blob of frozen fruit.
One of our favorite breakfast treats are Blueberry Yogurt Parfaits. Just combine vanilla yogurt, fresh blueberries and Kashi Go Lean Crunch Cereal (or granola). YUM!!

Great find on the blueberries! I was lucky a few weeks ago and our local grocery store had blueberries for 88cents a pint! They are usually $4 a pint! I bought 16 pints and froze most of them. It is so nice to pull the blueberries out for a bowl of cereal, blueberry muffins or pancakes! We will both be enjoying blueberries all year round for a great price!
ReplyDeleteWe picked some up too. Now I'm not sure how to convince the baby that she can't CONTINUE to eat exclusively blueberries.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, my favorite "treat" is blueberries layered with vanilla yogurt and graham crackers. It's surprisingly delicious!
I will have to try the blueberries, vanilla yogurt and graham crackers. That sounds really Yummy!!
