Most of the locations will be in or around the Kansas City area but I will try to feature other cities and states as well. Our first Field Trip is the Harry S. Truman Home in Independence, MO.
Cost: $4.00 Adult, Children 15 & under FREE
This field trip was very educational and a lot of fun. Not only did Connor get to see the home of a US President but he also got to see how people lived in the past. He especially liked touring the kitchen and the rotary phone. This field trip is ideal for children ages 5 & up but younger children would probably enjoy and learn from it as well.
Since the home is run and operated by the National Parks Service their is a Jr. Ranger program. The booklet is available to download here or you can pick one up at the Visitor's Center. There are 2 different books available, one for ages 5-8 and one for ages 9-12. Connor really enjoyed completing the activities in the book. Once complete, your child can turn it in at the Visitor's Center and a Park Ranger will have them take an oath and give them a badge and certificate.

I look forward to seeing all of the places that you go. We went on a field trip Saturday to Wonderscope and had a great time. I think we will check out the Harry S Truman home as well.
