Reservations are required.

Our homeschool group spent the day at the Mt. Gilead One-Room School program last week.  The kids were able to experience what school was like in the 1800's.  The teacher was dressed in period costume and taught using McGuffey Readers.  The children practiced penmanship, arithmetic, reading, poetry recitation, music, geography and even participated in a spelling bee.

This field trip requires reservations (phone # listed above) and is for groups not individuals.  It is a great field trip for homeschool groups, schools, girl scouts, boy scouts, church groups etc.  Call for more information and reservations.

Here are some photos from our day:
All of the kids in our group dressed like it was 1889.  Ideas for period costumes are included in the Teacher Packet.
