Powell Gardens Membership last fall and have really enjoyed it. We have attended several workshops and are very excited to see how the gardens change with each season including winter!
A Bird in Hand Workshop:

Join bird-bander and Naturalist Craig Hensley for a morning of up-close and personal encounters with birds. We will be netting, identifying, banding and releasing winter songbirds found around the grounds of Powell Gardens. From cardinals to chickadees, you will have a unique opportunity to learn about our local songbirds, how to identify them and how they make a living during the winter months. Learn what bird banding is all about and how you can help.
This workshop is for families (ages 5 & up). The workshop is FREE but
customary garden admission applies.
Great Backyard Bird Count:

Join Powell Gardens' Director of Horticulture Alan Branhagen as we participate in the 14th Annual Great Backyard Bird Count. You will be part of a team that identifies and counts the wealth of birds that frequent the visitor centers feeders. Beginners are welcome. Learn how to accurately count and identify winter birds. Observe them from the comfort of indoors if weather does not permit outside observation. Learn how to complete a birders checklist. Each checklist submitted by citizen scientists helps researchers at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society learn more about how the birds are doing and how to protect them.
This workshop is for families and is FREE but
