I just made Homemade Granola Bars for the first time. Here is the recipe for Pumpkin Spice Chewy Granola Bars:
2 cups Oats
1 cup Whole Wheat flour
2/3 cup Brown Sugar
1/2 cup Wheat Germ
3/4 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Pumpkin Pie Spice
1/2 cup Honey
2 teaspoons Vanilla
1/2 cup Canned Pumpkin
1/2 cup Canola Oil
1 Egg (beaten)
Spread the mixture in a greased 9x9 pan. I prefer using stoneware for this recipe especially if you like chewy granola bars. Pat with a spatula until the mixture is evenly distributed and flat. Bake in the oven for 30-40 minutes or until the edges start to brown.
After you remove from the oven, allow them to cool for 5 minutes then turn the pan upside down and remove in one big piece. This is when the stoneware pan really makes a difference, mine came out so easy! Cut into bars and allow to cool completely. Store in an air tight container. The granola bars should keep for about a week or they can be frozen.
Yummy!!

these sound delicious. are they a chewy bar?
ReplyDeleteYes, they are chewy.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't mind sharing, how much do you spend on average to purchase the ingredients for these yummy looking bars.
ReplyDeleteKeri,
ReplyDeleteI am not sure of the exact cost. I do a lot of baking and these are all things I keep in my pantry. I always stock-up on canned pumpkin at Thanksgiving & Christmas when it is super cheap. I would guess that the cost is under $1 to make 1 batch of the Granola Bars.
