Frugal Friday: Stockpiling
This week our house has been hit by the plague!! We have experienced the Respiratory Flu, Stomach Flu and now Pink Eye. I guess the scariest part is the official Flu Season has not even started! It seems that we are not the only household that is experiencing this plague. I think we are in for a rough winter of germs & illness. I have been cooped up in our house for almost a week now and I could not have done it without my stockpile. It has been so nice not to worry about needing anything or having to venture out with a sick child that should be in bed. I have been working on my stockpile for a little over a year now and it is the best thing I have ever done. This week we have enjoyed a freezer full of meals ready for the crockpot and lots of baked goods, a well stocked pantry, plenty of personal care items and a variety of cold, flu & stomach medicines. This has definitely reduced the stress of having a sick child. We have been able to rest, recover and of course lots of snuggles!

Get well soon, Connor!!!
ReplyDeleteConnor says Thank You!
ReplyDeleteIllness has visited my house too. Hope everyone gets well soon!
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better quickly. The flu is already hitting us too.
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope you are all better even as I am writing this! You are so right about a stockpile. Hmmm...I need to check my supply of chicken broth (both canned and home-made/frozen) and noodles, LOL! Can anything be more comforting than chicken noodle soup when you are sick?
ReplyDeleteRegarding stomach viruses: I work for a pediatrician, and she always tells our patients: "no fruit, no dairy." My own advice: get some ginger tea to sip. Ginger soothes the stomach. Ginger ale is okay only because any liquid is good to hydrate you, but it doesn't have real ginger in it. I hope this advice is moot, though, and you don't need it now!
Mom2fur,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great advice. We have eaten lots of Chicken Noodle Soup this week!
