Today I am going to share about our homeschool curriculum choices for next year. Connor is 8 years old right now and will be 9 years old in January 2013. You can see the curriculum that we used this year here.
This is what works for us so please don't compare yourself to us. Each family is unique and what works for us may or may not work for you. There is no right or wrong way to homeschool and this post is meant to show what works for us and provide you with ideas & inspiration. Please leave a comment if you have resources that you would like to share!
Language Arts:
Reading:
I am still working on our reading list for next year. We usually read 20-30 books (Connor loves to read & he is a speed reader) so that will be a separate post this summer! (The picture of above is the cover of our very, very, very favorite book of all time "Brighty of the Grand Canyon" by Marguerite Henry.)
Math:
Bible:
The Light and the Glory for Children
Drive Thru History DVD Collection
The Constitution
Geography:
Map Skills- United States
States & Capitals
Science:
Our Weather & Water
The World of Plants
Latin:
Latin for Children, Primer A
German:
German in 10 Minutes A Day
Art & Music:
I haven't decided what we are going to do for Art & Music next year so I will have to post that later. I do have some resources for teaching music appreciation here.
I think that should be enough to keep us busy for a year!
Loved looking at your selections thank you for sharing! I have three boys and my middle son is eight. I am also planning on some similar choices. We have also used Sonlight, and Bob Jones in the past. I plan on American History this coming year and haven't made my choice on what to use, it will include some Sonlight 3+4, but will need supplementing for my younger students 8 and 6 years old. I was happy to see your choices! Fun to see what others are doing! Anyway thank you for sharing.
